Bob Hannah to Be Honored at the White Brothers World Veteran Motocross Championships
7-time AMA National Champion Bob Hannah will be honored with the Edison Dye Motocross Lifetime Achievement Award on Sunday, November 4th during the 24th
Annual White Brothers World Veteran Motocross Championships at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino. This award honors the riders, promoters, and industry trailblazers that have made the biggest contribution to the sport of motocross in America. Hannah will join riders like Torsten Hallman, Joel Robert, Roger DeCoster, and Rick Johnson that have been previously honored with the award, the brainchild of Glen Helen owner Bud Feldkamp and White Brothers founder Tom White.

Bob Hannah easily ranks as the most versatile motocross racer of his era and perhaps of all time. During his 15-year racing career, Hannah won nationals in the 125cc, 250cc, and 500cc categories as well as Supercross and Trans-AMA. When he retired from racing in 1989, Hannah held the record for the most career wins in both AMA Supercross and AMA 250cc National motocross.

The “Hurricane” as he became known, was known for taking huge risks with a “never say day” approach to racing. Because he took risks, many of Hannah’s competitors didn’t like him. That was fine with him, as once on the track he had no friends. When interviewed, he speaks candidly about many of the present days rider’s lack of work ethic. Today, Hannah runs a sports aviation company and is married to his best friend, Terri.

At the White Brothers event, a special display will be presented by The Early Years of MX Museum featuring photos, posters, memorabilia, and machines similar to the ones Hannah rode. At 12:30PM, Hannah will be presented the Motocross Lifetime Achievement Award with compelling stories by his friends, Bevo Forte, Keith McCarty, and Larry Maiers. Hannah and a cast of VIP’s will be available for autographs following the presentation.
