Glen Helen Plans Double Air Shows for
2007 National Half-Time

Awaiting Federal Aviation Authority approval is a plan for the Glen Helen 250/450 National to have double aerobatic air shows going on at the same time on September 9, 2007. This would be, not just a National first, but according to air show performer Doug Jardine, an airshow first. “I don't think two different performers have every done their routines at the exact same time in the same air space.” Jardine in his Sukhoi and Ron Harrison in his Zlin have performed for the Glen Helen crowd in the past, but always on the west side of the track. This year, they hope to do their wild aerobatics routines on the North and South sides of the track at the same time. “This will insure that wherever the fans are sitting, they will be able to see the airshow.” Jardine ought to know, he is a regular Glen Helen racer on his off weekend from the air show circuit.

The FAA has to approve the novel idea, but Doug Jardine has submitted an aerial map outlining the two aerobatic boxes (highlighted in yellow). One is directly over Mt. Saint Helen, while the other will be over Mt. Whitney (on the REM track).

The track area is outlined in red and the yellow boxes are where Doug Jardine and Ron Harrison plan to fly.
